Which Would You Choose?

You can be right or you can be peaceful, but you can’t be both.

Which would you choose?

The ego wants to be right.

In a situation where someone else seems to have it wrong, and you feel (or know!) that you’re right, it’s oh so very tempting to point out their wrongness.

The ego loves that.

However, have you ever noticed that trying to show others you’re right, often comes at a cost?

By it’s very nature the act of PROVING SOMEONE WRONG or PROVING SELF RIGHT doesn’t involve much peace. It involves an energy, even if very subtle, of separation and judgment.

Now – that said, it’s quite valid to be right! There will be plenty of times in life when you are right, and someone else is technically “wrong”, but the questions to ask ourselves in those times are…

Does it really matter who is right or wrong?

Does it really make any difference if I point out how right I am?

Would I rather have peace as quickly as possible?

So in those moments when you want to stand up for yourself, or have the last word, or feel the need to counter someone else’s viewpoint (and there are plenty of opportunities for that in a world of contrasting beliefs and opinions), ask instead…

Would I rather be right or would I rather be peaceful?

Personally, most often these days I choose peace. There are very few times where it adds value to my life, to others or to this world if I were to battle to be right. So I don’t. Not because I can’t, not because the topic isn’t important. Simply because… I VALUE PEACE MORE.

What do you value?

What will you choose?

Away From Pain

An eternal struggle that kept a soul in the darkness for so long. A young heart was just aching for a little bit of freedom. Nobody was able to understand it, so they limited themselves to call that young heart “egoistical”. Was really so bad just for trying to get a little bit of happiness? No. The young spirit just wanted to feel a tiny bit of happiness after a long life in the shadows. Was it too much to ask for? It wasn´t.

Against everybody else´s wishes, the young heart was more than determined to fight for the happiness deserved.

It wasn´t an easy task. How could be easy forget long years filled with self-loathing? But even when it was hard work, it had to be done. Rebuilding something, always takes some time, but the wait it´s worth it.

Those awful feelings didn´t disappeared magically, but slowly began to be smaller and smaller. Maybe not everything was perfect yet, but a new door was opening in front of the young heart. There was a beautiful chance for a fresh start, away from the shadows of self-loathing and pain. The only thing that was needed was a little bit of confidence and faith in the future.

Understanding How Change Affects Us

Change is inevitable. We need to press forward into it.

When people move, change jobs, lose relationships and thousands of other types of changes they are under a certain amount of pressure. Change means dealing with the unknown. We like to have all our ducks in a row and to know exactly what’s happening each step of the way. When something changes, things are different. This can be threatening as well as taxing. Change always requires more of our attention.staircase-change

For instance, when we are developing new relationships with people, we must learn how they react in every situation. What things do they like? What do they dislike? What is acceptable to say to them? What is not? Will they get offended if we tease them?

Getting to know someone demands much more of our energy than what is required to simply be with a good friend we have known for a long time. The stress this creates can shorten our fuse in other areas.

In fact, any kind of change can add stress to our lives, which can make us irritable and tense. Some women, for example, are difficult to live with during their monthly cycle. Why? Because their bodies are changing and they feel difficult. If they don’t get more rest and avoid potentially stressful situations, they are more vulnerable to conflict during this time. Within a few days they are able to handle wonderfully something that they could not handle at all during the time of their physical changes.

The same is true for women who are going through the change of life. Their bodies are undergoing drastic changes, and often middle- aged women find that their bodies can no longer bounce back the way they did before. These physical changes affect some women more than others, but for many, it’s a season of change that can open doors for strife in relationships.

If a woman’s patience level is low and the noise level in her home is high, she may get angry. Things she was quite satisfied with before may suddenly become unacceptable. If her husband does not give her the affection she desires, she may be more easily hurt, and so withdraw and act in ways that her family is not used to. Her need for affection apart from sex may increase during this time. She wants to be held, but nothing more.

In order to avoid conflict during such a stressful change, it helps for a woman to remember that her husband cannot read her mind. She needs to remember that she is changing, but her family is just the same as always. They do not feel the way she does and should not be expected to understand her without some education.

When i was experiencing a change in my life, i started talking to myself, an heart to heart conversation with myself. Do not allow change to disorient you to the point that it causes strife.change

Some people have difficulty when their church or organization undergoes some kind of change. Perhaps the pastor feels that God is leading his church into an international missions outreach program. Some members of his congregation may think it’s great, while others may feel that an inner city outreach program would be better. When people fail to realize that many of their feelings are based on their own opinions and preferences, they can quickly open a door fro strife by vocalizing their disagreement. It’s a mistake to assume that a leader is not following God’s will just because you don’t agree personally with a change he or she makes. This can cause an unbelievable amount of conflict and destruction in a church.

Whenever you are facing changes of any kind, remember the devil will try to take advantage of you. He hopes to catch you off guard so you will let him in without realizing what’s happening.

That’s why, if your workplace, church, or some other organization you are involved with undergoes a change that you dislike, the wise thing to do is to give it some time to see how the change really affects you. Give things a chance to settle. If after the period of waiting you still feel the same way, talk to the person responsible for the change. Once you understand the situation and why the change was made, your entire outlook may change.

If you’ve done this and find that you still can’t be happy with the change, consider leaving, but leave in peace. Do not gossip and complain to others. Do not leave assuming that everyone else is wrong. What they are doing may be right for their business, church, or organization, but not right for you. We are to give one another liberty and not be judgmental.

Another kind of change that can open the door to strife occurs during those times when God is dealing with us. When the Lord is dealing with us on the inside, He intends to bring change on the outside. These changes are designed to bring progress, and satan will always fight progress.

Pregnancy Before Marriage: Linda Ikeji

Usually I don’t write on this topic, but it caught my eye after reading an information online.

Daily Post

This is a trending topic in my environment recently. Since last year, a lot of my friends got pregnant before getting married. I was lost in thought thinking about what the Bible says about fornication. But again society got a role to play in this.

The Joy of pregnancy makes a woman enlightened. Her whole perspective about life changes for good. In some cases it’s not all rosy, some leads to abortion and so many other stuffs. But having a baby with a man that still wanna be in your life is a great feeling for both parties.

Anyways back to my discussion…

So my friends are getting married after giving birth to their first child. I know in some parts of the world it’s not a big deal for ladies to get pregnant outside marriage. But in Africa “Nigeria” it’s a konk isuue.”Please you can quote me wrong”. Like I said before it depends on the circumstances of the pregnancy if the woman wants it, the man wants it and they plan to get married. If not it won’t be good news any longer, instead a burden.

The hottest trend right now is that Linda Ikeji is pregnant.. Yipppi!!! Yea am happy for her. Linda is the top blogger in Nigeria, a role model, and humanitarian. The first blogger in Nigeria, formerly single, recently engaged, now pregnant. I must say, she got it all.

A lot of questions have been buzzing about peeps criticizing her. But what will people won’t say or do. She’s 36, she always wanna be a mum and God bless her with one. Even outside wedlock, she’s gratetful.

What am trying to say is that God’s grace is so sufficient and truly His time is the best. A lot of women are married without kids, a lot got pregnant and abandoned, a lot because of shame went for abortion, while some experience miscarriage. What can we say about this God??? He works in mysterious ways.

Am not implying or advising to get pregnant before marriage, it’s a decision if you feel you can handle it.

Congratulations Linda Ikeji..

Laugh A Little

Laugh a little – sing a little,
As you go your way!

Work a little – play a little
Do this every day!

Give a little – take a little,
Never mind a frown –
Make your smile a welcome thing
All around the town!

Laugh a little – love a little,
Skies are always blue!

Every cloud has silver linings,
But it’s up to you!

Faith And Action

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus said:

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. “
I think what we see here is the same kind of thing James is talking about in James 2:14-26: “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by act is dead.

But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that–and shudder.
You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. “

The foolish man may hear and even believe a house built on the rock is better, but his house still crumbles if he doesn’t actually build it there. If we aren’t living our faith, our faith is dying. Let’s hear, believe, and then act accordingly.

I’M HAPPY MY DAUGHTER DID NOT DENY CHRIST!

Boko Haram, the Nigerian terrorist group, kidnapped 110 school girls in the town of Dapchi around February.

According to reports, many of the terrorists dressed as soldiers during the raid of the school and confused the students. Recently the same Boko Haram group returned most of the girls, except one who is still in captive as she refused to convert her faith and belief from Christianity to Islam. The father of the girl speaks….

Nata Sharibu, father of the only student of Federal Government Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state who is yet to be freed, says Boko Haram insurgents decided not to release his daughter because she refused to denounce Christ.

In a surprising manner, Boko Haram fighters returned the girls to Dapchi on Wednesday. The Cable had earlier reported that Liya Sharibu did not make it back to Dapchi apart from the five schoolgirls who reportedly lost their lives.

Speaking on RayPower FM shortly after the students were released, the girl’s father said he learnt that the insurgents gave his daughter the option of converting to Islam but she rejected it.
He expressed delight over her stance but prayed for her return.

“All of them were released. They said some were dead there and my daughter is alive but they cannot release her because she is a Christian,” he said.

“They gave her the option of converting in order to be released but she said she will never become a Muslim… I am very sad but I am also jubilating too because my daughter did not denounce. People of God, please let us raise prayer for Liya Sharibu that the hand of the Lord will be upon her, that the Lord should deliver her from the den of lions and bring her back safely without being molested. Pls let us arise and pray for this girl.

If you are a true Christian send this message to other Christian and dedicate at least 3 minutes to pray for this girl till she’s released. God bless you.

Things Change #inspiration #motivation

For most people, graduation is an exciting day – the culmination of years of hard work. My graduation

day was a day to remember.

I remember that weekend 8 years ago. Family and friends had flown in from across the country to watch me walk across that stage. But like everyone else in my graduating class, I had watched the economy turn from bad to worse my senior year. After the university, I went on a compulsory full National Youth Service Corp for a year, which was mandatory for all graduates in my country. We worked and got paid by the government and where we worked. After a year, we are done with the programme. We graduates had degrees, but very limited prospects. Numerous applications had not panned out and I knew that the next day, I will start to carter for myself.
The weeks ahead weren’t easy. I gathered up everything I couldn’t carry and put it into storage. Then, because I knew where I was coming from, they couldn’t offer me any opportunities, I packed up and went back to Lagos to find work. But what I thought would take a week dragged into two, and then four, and 100 job applications later, I found myself in the exact same spot as I was before.
You know that feeling when you wake up and you are just consumed with dread? Dread about something you can’t control – that sense of impending failure that lingers over you as you hope that everything that happened to you thus far was just a bad dream? That feeling became constant in my life.
Days felt like weeks, weeks like months, and those many months felt like an unending eternity of destitution. And the most frustrating part was no matter how much I tried, I just couldn’t seem to make any progress.
So what did I do to maintain my sanity? I wrote. Something about putting words on a page made everything seem a little clearer – a little brighter. Something about writing gave me hope. And if you want something badly enough… sometimes a little hope is all you need!
I channeled my frustration into creating an entertaining blog. Where I vent in current entertainment news and some personal write up. I got used to blogging and started making some small change and recognition. Never did I refuse to give up.
And then one day, without any sort of writing degree or contacts in the writing world – just a lot of hard work and perseverance – I was offered a job with a media house to be a writer/ Public Relations Officer to some of the biggest artists in my country. After that, things slowly began to fall into place. Then, a few months later, I got an interview with a telecommunications company to be the Admin Officer of the company. Now I found my part in writing and spreading the good news around for people who are depressed or unmitigated to move on in life. I stopped the entertainment blog and created this wonderful blog “Motivated And Free”. To help people, and also draw them close to Christ.
The moral of this story is… don’t give up. Even if things look bleak now, don’t give up. Several years back, it was a different story for me. But I thank God for His grace and mercy with continuous favour in my daily activities.
If you work hard, give it time, and don’t give up, things will always get better. Oftentimes our dreams lie in wait just a little further upstream… all we need is the courage to push beyond the river.

I will appreciate if this is shared to your loved ones, family, and enemies. Let us kick depression out of the way.

Two Traveling Angels #inspiring #motivation #trials #top trend

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family.

The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion’s guest room. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement.
As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, “Things aren’t always what they seem.”
The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife.
After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night’s rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.
The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel, “How could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him.” – she accused. “The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.”
“Things aren’t always what they seem.” – the older angel replied.
“When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it. Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren’t always what they seem.”
Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don’t turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later…
Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight, remember the homeless family who has no bed to lie in.
Should you find yourself stuck in traffic, don’t despair, there are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard-of privilege.
Should you have a bad day at work,
think of the man who has been out of work for many months struggling to feed his family.
Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror, think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.
Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking, “What is my purpose?”, be thankful,
there are those who didn’t live long enough to get the opportunity.

Around The World: Pastor’s Family Assaulted in Southern India #news

When will this persecution end? When will freedom of religion be honoured and respected? When will people acknowledge the fact that religion is a belief? I urge the United Nations and Religious organizations around the globe to come together and thrash this horrific act.

On a recent Monday at noon in southern India, a pastor’s family in Telangana state noticed motorcycles parked outside their church gate and a gang of young men loudly reading the church banner.

The banner of the church in Ramachandrapuram village, Karimngar District, included 2 Cor. 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you” in Telugu, the language spoken in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, along with a name and phone number, the pastor told Morning Star News. “We thought the youths had come to quench their thirst at the hand-pump,” Pastor Kolhapuri Lachaiah Moses said. “The youths started shouting, ‘Where is the pastor idiot? Who gave you Christians the permission to set up a church here? You Shudras! Idiots! How dare you do Christian activities here?’”

Shudras are a low-caste group in India.

“I came out running and asked, “What happened, babu ? Why are you shouting?” said the 52-year-old father of three. “I could smell the stink of alcohol. They were drunk.” He told them he was the pastor and politely asked them what had happened, he said, but they continued making derogatory caste remarks. His son, Kolhapuri Prabhakar, came out, urged them not to shout and asked what was the matter. “But they became aggressive, and started hitting my elderly father,” Kolhapuri Prabhakar told Morning Star News. “When I tried to stop them, they punched me too. My mother and sister also rushed to help us, only to be pushed away by the drunk men. They yelled, ‘We have been looking for you for the past six months, we got you today. We will not stop now.’”

Pastor Moses said his youngest son, 20-year-old Kolhapuri Immanuel, insisted the assailants be handed over to police and dialed the police emergency service line, and then family members tried to confine the six young men until officers could arrive. Before police arrived, one of the young men picked up a large boulder and threw it on Kolhapuri Immanuel’s right foot, and two of the young men escaped, Pastor Moses said. “He howled in pain, but they did not stop there,” he said.
Kolhapuri Immanuel, who underwent foot surgery for a fractured fifth metacarpal, said they continued beating them.

“Two of them held me by my hands, while the other threw that huge stone on my foot. I could not bear that pain,” the 20-year-old said.

Counter Case Filed against Christians

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Abdul Kareem told Morning Star News that officers identified the drunken young men as members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a Hindu nationalist student group affiliated with the Hindu extremist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Kolhapuri Prabhakar filed a complaint at the Ramadugu Mandal police station and rushed his younger brother to a hospital. Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Kalikota Sai Krishna, 20; Kanaparthi Sai Sunil, 19; and Chaviti Sathya Shiva and Edavelli Karthik, both 20, under sections of the India Penal Code (IPC) prohibiting trespass, voluntarily causing hurt and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, among others.

A counter FIR, however, was filed against the Christian family under IPC sections against intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, public nuisance and voluntarily causing hurt, Sub-Inspector of Police Naresh Reddy told Morning Star News.

A police official who requested anonymity added, “In the pastor’s family’s attempt to catch the culprits and hand them to the police, two Hindu youths also got injured in the scuffle.”
The police source said officers came under strong pressure from higher authorities to register a counter case against the Christians.

“The accused ABVP youth have connections with the political leaders at state and central levels,” the source said. “We came under severe pressure and registered a counter case against the Christians, but only as non-cognizable offenses [wherein no arrest can be made without a warrant]. The BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] politicians are trying their best to bail out the [Hindu] accused.”
Kolhapuri Prabhakar said he had no idea how the sections of the law filed against the Christian family members can be applied to them. The assailants did not register the FIR against them, he said.
“It was the police who registered the FIR, and they now are pressuring and threatening us that we made false claims,” he told Morning Star News. “Now the police are threatening us that we filed a false case to seek vengeance for the attack. It is not true. That is not our intention. It was the police who levied the sections; we forgave our attackers and are ready to withdraw the case also.”
Police officers insulted him as a lower-caste Dalit, he added.

“The police called me and asked if I am human or animal,” he said. “They asked why am I unable to submit the medical reports, but the staff at Karimnagar General Hospital are refusing to issue the reports.”

After many requests, the hospital staff finally wrote on a small slip of paper that Kolhapuri Immanuel had a fifth metacarpal fracture and gave it to him, Kolhapuri Prabhakar said. After surgery on March 7, doctors advised complete bed rest for three months.

Kolhapuri Prabhakar said he is devoted to Bible reading, prayer and ministry work and has no knowledge of legal cases.
“But look at what God is bringing us through,” he said. “My Lord gives me the courage and strength to talk to these police. They are threatening, abusing, calling names, but I have been patient and will continue to be so. It is pure joy that the Lord chose me for this battle.”
The family requested prayer for healing of Kolhapuri Immanuel’s foot and their ministry work.

The hostile tone of the National Democratic Alliance government, led by the Hindu nationalist BJP, against non-Hindus, has emboldened Hindu extremists in several parts of the country to attack Christians since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took power in May 2014, religious rights advocates say.

India ranked 11 on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2018 World Watch List of countries where Christians experience the most persecution, up from 15 the previous year, and ahead of Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Egypt.
